WHAT WILL YOU LEARN IN FOUNDATION?
During your time here you will not only begin to understand the depth of your identity in Christ but also why God has put you on this earth. We’ve all been through experiences in our lives that have shaped our personalities and formed how we think about ourselves. We must establish that there is a source of truth that is absolute, and outside of our own thoughts, experiences and emotions. The Scriptures claim to be exactly that. And if there is a source of absolute truth, what does it reveal about God, ourselves, and the world around us?
These are the types of questions we answer together during Foundation and into the rest of your experience at Narrow Gate Lodge.

WHAT WILL YOU LEARN IN COMMUNITY?
These four months are key to you unpacking the Scriptures in a brand new way. We teach the Bible in context, which means not only reading through the books of the bible, but also understanding the culture and times when the books were actually written.
Aside from the curriculum, you’ll also get a chance to learn how to work with your hands in our professional grade wood shop, leather shop, and metal shop. Each student will be taught woodturning from world class teachers, and have the opportunity to learn leather working and metalworking from experts in their craft. We view this as an opportunity for you to get creative and work with our hands at the same time. Many weeks, you’ll travel to our Artisans Shops in Columbia, TN where you’ll see first-hand how to walk out your faith in the marketplace while continuing to develop marketable skills and abilities.
You’ll also be given an area of responsibility to assist in maintaining our campus and to possibly learn the basics of a new skill or trade. Areas of responsibility include: maintenance, landscaping, construction, cooking, hospitality, and more!

The Service phase is the final chapter of the Narrow Gate Lodge experience.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?
It’s time to learn how to live out your purpose! Developing you further as a leader is accomplished as you take what you’ve learned and begin to teach and lead others. You’ll draft a treasured document, formulated alone with God, that will guide you for the rest of your life. We believe that if you have God’s vision for your life and the purpose to become who God has called you to be, life makes more sense.
Once your Vision and Purpose is completed you will walk through an 8 week curriculum that prepares you to continue to live a purposeful life and find a supportive community once you graduate. You’ll gain leadership training, resume and interview building skills, and set goals for your future and how God is leading it.
Another opportunity you may get to experience is participating in local missions and with other nonprofits in our area. The final chapter is graduation. We take an afternoon, invite friends and family to honor the decision you’ve made to follow Christ as His disciple and celebrate the new life that God offers. This is truly an emotional and exciting event that you will never forget!
